Pros: super easy class
Cons: none
Literally one of the easiest classes i've ever taken at Cal Poly.
Take it online with McCabe for an easy A.
If you're a science major and actually need to understand this stuff, you probably shouldn't take this class.

Pros:
He was such an understanding and nice teacher! Quizzes are given out every week but you have 3 days to take it. Also you can take it 3 times & hew takes the best score! It's super easy, you can either guess, look it up online or in the lectures. If you missed one of the online quizzes he gives out every week just email him and provide a reasonable reason he will put it up again and let you take it! There are 3 exams, unlike the quizzes you only get one attempt. However it's not that hard either just make sure you look over his lectures. After everything I got a 89.2 for my final grade. So I emailed him asking if I can get it rounded to an A-. He took in consideration that I improved a lot in my exams and ended up giving me an A-!!!

Pros: Online Class
All answers are found on the PPTs or online
Koofers has a lot of the exam test bank
He gets back fast if you e-mail him with questions
You absolutely do NOT need the book, (if you want an older version is fine)
Exams are online and you can do them with friends
You have plenty of time to finish weekly quizzes and exams
Super easy A
You learn something if you want to
the PPTs are explanatory and helpful
Cons: Nothing really
If you fail this class its because you missed a quiz or did not use the PPTs he posts online.
You can simply "Ctrl F" all ppts for all quizzes and exams.

Pros: EASIEST ONLINE CLASS
If your major does not need biology, just take the online class!
Worth it, no need to buy textbook
Cons: Nothing much
He says you need the textbook but you don't you can just look at "resources" for answers. I am a computer science student and since our major does not need bio, so why do i need to put the effort to learn it. Really worth taking each week theres a quiz, 3 exams (theyre like midterms) you do it and your good to go. My friend(s) forgot to do their exams you BETTER remember or it's on you. Grade Received: A

Pros: Easy online class
I took the class online on Fall 2013. There were a quiz every week on each chapter. The quiz is not hard and you have three attempts, he would count the highest score out of three attempts. There were three or four exams.. i kind of forget. some of the exam questions are similiar to the ones on the quiz. Also, there are two discussion board questions which you need to read an article he posted, and amswer two critical questions from him, and you need to reply other students answer then you would get the full points. Overall. this is a super esay A class.

Pros: Online
Super Easy
Alright so I am NOT a friend of science at all, in fact I have been dreading having to take Biology for GE for 2 years. I saw an Online class and thought what the heck. I am so glad that I did!!! Easiest 3 Units you will ever get. Theres about 8 quizzes, and you get three chances and he keeps your highest score. Theres 3 tests (only get one chance) and 2 discussion board assignments (took me 20 min). Do NOT buy the book, it will be a total waste. I did not read, did not study, or anything like that and I got a B (I forgot one assignment). Google is your best friend in this class, that is all I used. Spent 10 min a week for this class.

Pros: ONLINE!
Cons: none!
I had this class in Fall 2011. It was cool. There were no class meetings what-so-ever. We had 3 chances to take each quiz (each 10 questions, time limit 10 mins) but you could basically google everything. The powerpoints were kind of boring even though he had his voice recorded so you can listen to him while you take notes off the slides. All in all, easy class. For the exams get some friends from either your lab or activity and take the exam together, people would do that all the time and get good grades. He also posts study guides for the exam which you can split up with friends as well.
NOTE: when taking the quizzes write down the questions and the answers, he uses some of the questions on the exam.

Pros: Easy class
No use of text book
Very understanding professor
Cons: quizzes every week.
This class was overall very easy. I never used the text book so don't even bother buying it if you are taking the lecture online. Online, you have three tries on each quiz and all the answers are given to you during the slideshows if you really pay attention.

Pros: easy online class
ideal for people with busy schedules
quiz once a week. an exam every...3? i think
Don't buy the book :) he provides power points with the info already on blackboard, and thats what he bases his quizzes/exams off from.
He's also really understanding. If you accidentally miss a date to take the exam or discussion board assignment online, email him. And If he sees you've been a good student keeping up with good grades in his class for the quarter so far, He'll let you take it still on a separate day. (actually happened)- just don't take advantage of it.
Make your life easier by finding friends in the same class and do the quizzes/exams with them. :)
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Pros: He teachers BIO in a way that is understandable. Great ONLINE class!
If you are going to take BIO online you have to have McCabe. You do not need to buy the book...I didn't and based off of the point system that he uses, I can't get below a B...and that's without taking the final. Take notes on the powerpoints he posts and use them for your quizzes and you will be just fine in the class!! SO easy!!

This was an online class and everything is given to you. There's no way that you should get anything lower than an A. There are quizzes weekly and you get 2 days to take them. 2 midterms and 1 final. This class is a breeze.

Pros: No studying needed.
Easy.
Easy to contact for help.
Cons: Information is not retained, but most don't care about that.
This class is so easy. There is a quiz every week except when there is an exam. Because it is an online class, you can have the notes open along with google, so they are pretty easy. There are always a few questions that weren't on the notes, but because you can take the quizzed 3 times, it is easy to get 100%. But always try and take the tests with other people in the class if you can.

I didn't do a single thing in this class. Took it online. Went online maybe once or twice a week and not for very long each time. Just watch the powerpoints online and you're good to go. I am not very good at studying and my GPA is pretty poor, but this class was seriously the easiest class I have ever taken at Cal Poly. McCabe is a good professor and is on top of any questions or concerns about the online course, so if you have any problems just let him know and he'll take care of you. HIGHLY recommend to take this class online. Grade Received: A

1st off...dont even waste your time buying a book! you can pass this class with an a without a book. i did. its a pretty straight forward class. as long as you go to class and copy down all of the notes you will be fine. he takes his test ?'s straight from his notes. before the test he literally goes over the test. he goes over the study guide. the ?'s are either straight from the test or are very similar. also he gives you several extra credit opportunities. mrs. mccabe is so nice and helpful. if you have a ? about anything you can e-mail him and he will repsond back in full detail. Oh my gosh, you must take this class online with this guy. This class is great if you have a hard, busy school schedule. Don't buy the textbook, the powerpoint slides, which he provides, google, and wikipedia are all you need. I didn't spend a single millisecond studying for this class. There are 3 units, each of which contain 6 slides, around 3 quizzes and 1 exam. So in total there are about 8 quizzes you have to take, and 3 exams. Quizzes are 10 MC/TF questions, and you have 20 minutes per attempt. With the quizzes you get 3 attempts, and your best one is the one that counts. The exams you only get 1 attempt. There are 50 MC/TF questions, and you get 90 minutes for the attempt. Unless you're actually interested in learning the subject, but if you're like me and just want to fulfill a GE requirement, and get an easy A, then take this class. For the quizzes and exams, here's what you do, you have the ppt slides that the quiz/exam is on in different tabs, your quiz/exam on one tab, and another tab open for wikipedia/google. Then when you're doing the test, you can take a key word from the question and use the find feature on the pdf ppt, and if you can't find any answer in there then google part of the question or search the key word on wikipedia and you'll eventually find the answer. Hey don't judge me, I have a busy engineering schedule. I like the subject but you're an engineer you need to spend time with your statics/dynamics, or fluids or what ever important core/support courses you're taking not this class. Grade Received: A

Very good professor for this class. He knows that it's 1 unit and we are all just ready to graduate. You meet the first day and then you don't meet again for 4-5 weeks. There are 2 presentations each week and 4 during finals week. He doesn't critique your paper, just makes sure that you have the ability to write. He doesn't time your presentation and only asks 1-2 questions but doesn't mind if you can't asnwer them. At the end he said that no one needs to worry; everyone is getting A's. Highly recommend! I recommend taking this professor, his class has over a hundred people and only takes roll on the first day of class. However, I recommend going to class because sometimes he tells us when class is canceled and you won't find out in your email. Do not buy the book because everyday in class all he does is lecture from presentation slides, there is a lot to write but you can email him for the slide notes and he will send back every powerpoint presentation used in class. The midterm, final, quiz, and assignments are ALL based on the slides. Before every exam, he will also hand out a study guide so study everything on it including going over the powerpoints. He wants everyone to get an A cuz after the midterm he will give you very easy extra credit homework and quizzes which literally make up for all the lost points for the exam. So after the midterm I recommend you go to class all the time. The final is NOT cumulative but is based on the lectures given after the midterm. He is also extremely friendly, sweet, and approachable. Oh, and I have like a 3.2gpa right now and im pretty lazy so that kinda shows he's pretty easy. Take him, YOU WONT REGRET IT!
